Wewantsounds continues its Meiko Kaji reissue series with Yadokari, her third album from 1973, available on vinyl for the first time with remastered audio and original artwork. Known for her iconic roles in Lady Snowblood and Stray Cat Rock, Kaji also had a remarkable music career, recording five albums for Teichiku Records between 1972 and 1974.
Blending kayōkyoku, enka, psychedelic rock, and cinematic funk, Yadokari features standout tracks like the slow-burning title song and the groove-heavy Hagure Bushi. Two songs, Hagure Bushi and Kiba no Ballad, were composed by Yuji Ohno (Lupin the III) for the cult 1973 TV series Sengoku Rock Hagure Kiba, in which Kaji starred.
This deluxe reissue comes in a Japanese-style gatefold sleeve with an OBI strip and a two-page insert featuring new liner notes by Hashim Kotaro Bharoocha. As a special bonus, it includes the rare 7” EP Shura No Hana / Hō Yare Ho, featuring the legendary Shura No Hana (“Flower of Carnage”), famously used in Kill Bill Vol. 2. Remastered from the original tapes, this release is an essential addition to Kaji’s discography and a must-have for fans of Japanese cinematic music.
