Originally released for the Famicom in 1989, MOTHER became a cultural phenomenon, leaving a deep emotional impact on players. Alongside its sequels, the series has continued to resonate with fans across generations — “adults, children, and everyone in between” — each discovering MOTHER at different moments in their lives. Central to that lasting impression was its music. Iconic melodies such as “Eight Melodies,” later featured in Japanese elementary school music textbooks, helped define the game’s atmosphere and emotional depth. Today, MOTHER’s music remains cherished by fans not only in Japan, but around the world.
The original MOTHER soundtrack, produced by Keiichi Suzuki and recorded in the UK with local vocalists, was released in the same year as the game itself, 1989. Now, more than 30 years later, Suzuki revisits this unforgettable work as part of his 50th anniversary celebrations. MOTHER MUSIC REVISITED features entirely new orchestral recordings, fresh arrangements, and vocals performed by Suzuki on all tracks.
