Draft 7.30 is the seventh album by pioneering electronic duo Autechre, released on April 7, 2003, through Warp Records.
At the time, Sean Booth noted in an interview that “rhythm doesn’t seem to constrain us the way it did when we first started.”
The album presents innovative, unpredictable, and highly complex music, this time with a stronger focus on melody and a street-inspired (though thoroughly processed) hip-hop rhythm. The apparent sonic chaos in some passages is deceptive—like their previous work, Draft 7.30 rewards repeated listening, revealing new layers and interpretations with each play.
Formed in 1987, Autechre is one of Warp Records’ most influential acts. All of their full-length albums, beginning with the 1993 debut Incunabula, have been released through the label. Early recognition came from their inclusion on Warp’s 1992 compilation Artificial Intelligence.
