A special Japanese vinyl edition of the original soundtrack to Star Wars: A New Hope is set for release. This limited pressing recreates the classic Japanese sleeve artwork and includes the traditional obi strip, all presented on coloured vinyl.
The album features the iconic score from the first Star Wars film directed by George Lucas. Originally released in the United States in 1977 and in Japan the following year, the soundtrack earned composer John Williams the Academy Award for Best Original Score. Many of the musical themes that would come to define the entire saga appear here for the first time, including “Star Wars (Main Title)”, “Imperial Attack”, and “Princess Leia’s Theme”, along with the lively “Cantina Band”.
The audio for this edition is sourced from the original 1977 soundtrack recordings and newly remastered by Shawn Murphy at Skywalker Sound, using the high-resolution 192kHz/24bit master prepared in 2018.
