- Long-awaited debut on analog vinyl
- Celebrating the 50th anniversary since Akiko Kanazawa's debut
- Groundbreaking albums that fused Japanese folk music and dance music
Two pioneering albums that seamlessly blend Japanese folk (minyo) with dance music are finally available on vinyl for the very first time.
Released to mark the 50th anniversary of her debut, legendary minyo singer Akiko Kanazawa presents these landmark works, where traditional vocal artistry meets forward-thinking electronic production. Originally issued on CD in 1991, HOUSE MIX I and HOUSE MIX II were produced by Soichi Terada, founder of the influential FAR EAST RECORDINGS label, whose work continues to gain international recognition.
Terada’s genre-defying production perfectly complements Kanazawa’s powerful and expressive voice, resulting in a truly unique sound that bridges tradition and club culture. These albums stand as historic recordings that helped redefine the possibilities of dance music.
Following the success of the 7-inch single “Akita Daikokumai / Akita Ondo,” which topped multiple sales and pre-order charts, these long-awaited vinyl editions further highlight the enduring appeal and cultural impact of this extraordinary collaboration.
