For the first time ever, the 7-inch vinyl single featuring the theme songs from the TV anime Pro Golfer Saru, based on the work of manga artist Fujiko Fujio (A), is being reissued! Side A features the opening theme “Yume wo Kachitorou,” while Side B includes the ending theme “My Way Sarumaru.” Both songs were originally released in 1987 and remain some of the most iconic tracks in anime music, performed by the legendary anime singer Ichirou Mizuki.

“Yume wo Kachitorou” begins with the unforgettable line from the protagonist Sarumaru (voiced by Kyoko Tongu) roaring in the storm, “I am Saru! I’m Pro Golfer Saru!” From there, Ichirou Mizuki’s powerful and energetic voice carries the song to life. The lyrics were written by Fujiko Fujio (A) himself, a known golf enthusiast, and cleverly weave in golf terminology while fully capturing the world of the manga.

In contrast, the ending theme “My Way Sarumaru” offers a playful, lighthearted glimpse of Sarumaru’s pure and slightly mischievous personality, reflecting the character’s independent spirit suggested by the title.

Both songs were created by the legendary Showa-era anime song duo, composer Asei Kobayashi and arranger Hiroshi Tsutsui, making this a must-have release for fans. The vinyl comes with a faithfully recreated jacket design from the original release, adding to its nostalgic appeal. Pre-orders are now open at record stores nationwide.
