The original soundtrack to Matsuribayashi ga Kikoeru, the Nippon Television drama that first aired in 1977, returns to vinyl, bringing a long-awaited reissue of a classic from Japan’s rich musical history. Starring legendary singer and actor Kenichi Hagiwara, also known as Shoken, the drama is accompanied by a distinctive soundtrack built around the standout tracks “Dream Racer” and “Stranger,” presented in several compelling arrangements.

Composed and arranged by Katsuo Ohno, the music captures the unmistakable groove and atmosphere of 1970s Japanese popular music. Ohno’s extensive career includes work with influential acts such as The Spiders, PYG, and the Takayuki Inoue Band, as well as memorable television scores for Taiyo ni Hoero!, Kizudarake no Tenshi, and the long-running anime series Detective Conan.

The soundtrack features performances by George Yanagi and the NADJA Band, renowned for their musical association with Shoken. Together, they bring energy, depth, and a distinctive sound to these enduring compositions.

This vinyl reissue also includes newly written liner notes by lyricist Ryo Shoji, dated summer 2024, offering additional insight into this remarkable release. An essential discovery for collectors of Japanese soundtrack music and fans of vintage Japanese grooves.
