Hikaru Utada’s two albums, released under the name “Utada” via Island Def Jam Music Group, have been newly remastered and are now available on vinyl for the first time!
Pressed on 180g heavyweight vinyl and including lyrics and translations, these editions finally bring her groundbreaking U.S. era to LP.
This is her second U.S. album, originally released in 2009 and produced by acclaimed hitmakers Stargate (NE-YO, Rihanna, Beyoncé, among others) and Tricky Stewart (Britney Spears, Madonna, Mariah Carey, and more).
The album reached No. 69 on the US Billboard 200, making Utada the first Japanese artist in 23 years to enter the Top 100 of that chart — since Loudness’s “Lightning Strikes” peaked at No. 64.
Featuring standout tracks such as the debut single “Come Back to Me”, which hit No. 5 on the U.S. Dance Club Songs chart, and “Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence - FYI”, which samples Ryuichi Sakamoto’s iconic composition from Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, this release captures a bold and historic moment in her international career.
