The soundtrack accompanies Obsession, a psychological thriller about a hopeless romantic whose dreams appear to come true—only to reveal a dark and unsettling cost. Burwell’s score plays a central role in shaping the film’s eerie emotional landscape, blending warmth and dread, nostalgia and unease, romance and claustrophobia into a deeply immersive listening experience.

Built around atmospheric synthesizers, unsettling textures, and bold dynamic contrasts, the music explores the unsettling space between reality and illusion. Working closely with director Curry Barker, Burwell crafted a score designed to evoke discomfort and uncertainty, using abrupt transitions and confrontational sonic moments to heighten the film’s psychological tension.

Obsession marks Burwell’s feature film composing debut, showcasing a distinctive and compelling musical voice. The result is a mesmerizing synth-driven soundtrack that stands on its own as a captivating journey into the uncanny and the unknown.
