This 2 × 12-inch vinyl edition reissues the original soundtrack for the 2022 animated film Ambient Trip Commander. Running over 70 minutes, the music was initially performed live by Danny Wolfers (Legowelt) on synthesizers at the film’s premiere on May 28, 2022, at EYE Filmmuseum. Wolfers continued performing the score live at select screenings before it saw a cassette release on August 4, 2023. The 2026 vinyl edition presents the soundtrack in four continuous parts, emphasizing a cohesive, immersive listening experience.
Ambient Trip Commander is a feature-length animated film entirely hand-drawn and painted by Danny Wolfers, marking his debut in feature animation. Using frame-by-frame watercolor techniques, Wolfers transforms his paintings into a vivid cinematic world over the course of an eighteen-month production.
The story follows Samantha Tapferstern, a socially awkward young woman working at a modest synthesizer shop in a mid-sized European city. By night she immerses herself in RPGs and dating apps. Her life takes a mysterious turn when she receives a train ticket accompanied by a cryptic message from a hacker collective, inviting her to Lonetal, a remote village in the European Alps. Boarding the night train sets Samantha on a darkly whimsical adventure where the ordinary and the uncanny collide.
