Emerging from Leeds’ experimental underground, Tristwch y Fenywod (“The Sadness of Women”) is a Welsh-language gothic avant-rock trio blending occult energy with eerie, atmospheric intensity. Featuring Gwretsien Ferch Lisbeth (Guttersnipe, The Ephemeron Loop), Leila Lygad (Hawthonn), and Sidni Sarffwraig (Slaylor Moon, The Courtneys), the band conjures a haunting mix of darkwave, ritualistic folk, and avant-garde rock.

Their self-titled debut, recorded after just ten live performances, weaves siren-like vocals, dual zithers, brooding bass, and electronic percussion into a sound both otherworldly and raw. Echoing the spectral beauty of Dead Can Dance, the dark minimalism of The Cure’s Pornography, and the haunted string work of Svitlana Nianio, the album unfolds like a forgotten Celtic darkwave relic.

Recorded at Hohm Studio, Bradford in 2023, this eight-track release is an unholy grail of atmospheric, occult feminist goth—both chilling and exhilarating.
