Haruomi Hosono, Shigeru Suzuki, and Tatsuro Yamashita crafted original compositions inspired by the stunning South Pacific seas for the debut release in the Sound Image Series.

Haruomi Hosono contributed two tropical-infused tracks, along with the first-ever appearance of Cosmic Surfing, later featured on YMO’s debut album Yellow Magic Orchestra. Tatsuro Yamashita brought a lush crossover sound with Nostalgia of Islands, blending surf siesta vibes, pop instrumentals, and an oldies-style chorus, alongside Kiska. Shigeru Suzuki delivered three groove-filled tropical funk instrumentals.

The album also features an incredible lineup of musicians, including Tateo Hayashi, Shuichi Murakami, Kenji Takamizu, Shigetoya Hamaguchi, Nobu Saito, Jun Sato, Kenji Omura, Hirofumi Tokutake, and Hidefumi Toki.

Originally released on May 1, 1978, this limited-edition 180g vinyl has been expertly cut by legendary mastering engineer Bernie Grundman for the highest audio fidelity.
